Today, our MinerSource team visited Lianli, a manufacturer specializing in water cooling and oil cooling equipment for mining machines. As the cost of Bitcoin mining continues to rise, the noise, high failure rate, and high maintenance costs of air-cooled mining machines have led many professional Bitcoin miners to upgrade to water cooling and immersion oil cooling equipment.
Our sales team members, Diana and Jack, visited the Lianli factory for learning and touring. Many customers have inquired about water cooling and immersion oil cooling for mining, and we hope today’s article will provide you with further understanding.
Currently, more miners are choosing water cooling equipment over immersion oil cooling. This is because water cooling has been widely adopted in the market for a long time, and the solutions are very mature. Immersion oil cooling equipment is still in the exploratory stage, and many unprofessional miners blindly choosing oil cooling have caused widespread machine damage. Additionally, immersion oil cooling equipment developed by manufacturers has not yet been widely used, so its exact performance is unclear. Based on data from our consulted clients, more customers prefer water cooling over immersion oil cooling. However, the downside is that if you choose a water cooling solution, you must purchase specialized water-cooled mining machines, such as the Antminer S21 Hydro and Whatsminer M53.
If you are very familiar with the performance of Asic mining machines, you can opt for immersion oil cooling. This way, you can convert an air-cooled mining machine into an immersion oil-cooled device (as far as we know, most miners lack this capability). Alternatively, you can directly purchase professional immersion oil-cooled mining machines, such as the latest Antminer S21 IMM and Whatsminer M66S, which are relatively expensive.
In today’s article, we will focus on introducing Lianli’s water and oil cooling equipment.
LianLi Water Cooling Solution One:
Small-scale water-cooled mining machines – 3 to 5 machines
For small individual investors, cooling 3-5 machines can be done with an 8kw/12kw water cooler. The 12kw cooler is suitable for S21hyd /S19pro+hyd/ S19exp hyd/s19xp hyd and Whatsminer M33/M53/M63. At an ambient temperature below 25 degrees, the 12kw cooler can support 2 machines. The 8kw cooler can only be used with one original hydraulic mining machine at an ambient temperature of 15 degrees Celsius.
LianLi Water Cooling Solution Two:
Medium-scale water-cooled mining machines – 50 to 100 machines, placed in a factory or data center
For medium-scale investors, a cooling solution for 50-100 machines can involve a cooling cabinet + CDU (Cooling Dispensing Unit) + water tower/dry cooler. As shown in the schematic, different models and power ratings of dry coolers or cooling towers can be selected based on the number of machines.
Here is an introduction to the cooling cabinet, CDU, water tower, and dry cooler.
Water Cooling Cabinet:
Currently, Lianli’s cabinets are compatible with both Antminer and Whatsminer models. The largest Antminer cabinet can accommodate 28 water-cooled mining machines, while the smallest can hold 8.
Lianli Whatsminer cabinets have 12 and 20 slots, as shown in the schematic, and can be paired with different models of water coolers or dry coolers.
The CDU intelligent monitoring system supports systematic management.
The intelligent CDU control system is designed separately from the cabinet and can be customized for CDU-controlled cabinets. It enables systematic management of large data center deployments. The CDU allows you to control all servers with one click. Currently, Lianli’s CDU models include 200kw, 400kw, 600kw, 800kw, 1000kw, and 2000kw.
Water Tower and Dry Cooler
You can choose either a water tower or a dry cooler. If your farm location has abundant water resources, you can opt for the more cost-effective closed water tower. If your area lacks sufficient water resources, you can choose a dry cooler for cooling.
As shown in the picture, this is the closed water tower.
This is the dry cooler.
Lianli Water Cooling Solution Three:
For large-scale mining farms with thousands of machines placed outdoors.
For large-scale investors, a cooling solution for 1000-10000 machines can include a container + CDU + water tower/dry cooler. Since the machines are placed completely outdoors, containers are needed to house the machines. The container images are shown below
Currently, there are 20-foot and 40-foot containers, which can accommodate 240 and 480 machines, respectively. Of course, Antminer and Whatsminer require different containers.
The above are the water cooling solutions. The immersion oil cooling solution requires similar equipment to water cooling, except that the water cooling cabinet is replaced with an immersion oil cooling cabinet or oil cooling container.
LianLi Oil Cooling Solution One:
Small-scale water-cooled mining machines – 3 to 5 machines.
You can choose immersion oil cooling cabinets with 1, 3, or 6 slots as shown in the picture.
LianLi Oil Cooling Solution Two:
Medium-scale water-cooled mining machines – 100 to 500 machines.
You can choose oil cooling cabinets that can accommodate 18 or 30 mining machines, to be placed in a data center or indoors.
Currently, Lianli does not manufacture large oil cooling containers. For outdoor immersion oil cooling farms with thousands of machines, containers are essential. We will introduce more containers from different manufacturers later, so stay tuned.
